India displayed complete domination in the field in terms of batting and bowling. Sri Lanka did have their chance in the game but three dropped catches and a horrible mix-up took the game away from their hands.
Sri Lanka Women’s team has had a solid start in the game. Batting first the opening duo of Vishmi Rajapaksha and Chamari Atapattu took the game to the opposition. Runs came at a steady pace as the Lankan team was desperate to even the series. Vishmi Rajapaksha (45) and Chamari Atapattu (43) gave their side a good start as well as brought up a 50-run partnership.
Trouble arose following their dismissal. India was eyeing the first wicket and then continued to inflict pressure. Pooja Vastrakar provided the breakthrough as she sent Atapattu packing. The rest of the batting order crumbled and failed to add runs on the board. SriLanka ultimately gave India the target of 126.

Indian openers came to bat, determined to end the game as early as possible. Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma began their onslaught as the Indian batters mounted pressure on the opposition. In a fit to hit big, Shefali Verma was dismissed. Sabbhineni Meghana too followed the same, as she departed after scoring a quick-firing 17.

Smriti Mandhana achieved a spectacular milestone as she went on to score 2000 runs in T20Is. She became the third Indian batter to put this feather on her cap. Previously, Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur have achieved this feat. Harmanpreet Kaur on the other hand went past Mithali Raj to become India-W’s leading run-getter in T20Is.
Jemimah Rodrigues was dismissed cheaply. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur stood firmly at the crease as she and Yastika Bhatia continued to keep the scoreboard ticking. India changed their aggression and restricted hitting boundaries. Seeking an easy target, they kept taking short runs and rotated the strike.
Yastika Bhatia was dismissed on the penultimate over as the match progressed to the last over. India needed 3 from 6 balls. Harmanpreet smashed a boundary on the first ball of the last over to seal the tie for India.
