IND vs BAN Test Series: In the two-Test series against Bangladesh (IND vs BAN Test Series), India’s batting did not show the aggression that captain KL Rahul had promised and the awkward selection decisions. Questions are also bound to arise. Indian bowlers took 40 wickets in both the Tests but by giving the opposition team a chance to play till the end, the team was on the verge of losing the second Test (IND vs BAN 2nd Test) which won by barely four wickets.
The pitch was challenging on the fourth day but scoring 145 shouldn’t have been too difficult. India made the mistake of playing too defensive on such a pitch. This gave Bangladesh spinners a chance to dominate.
Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin stitched a useful partnership to save India from defeat, but questions are being raised about the average performance of the top-order batsmen and the huge selection lapse ahead of the upcoming home series against Australia.
IND vs BAN Test Series
India does not need to play very aggressively like England but while chasing the target of 145 runs, some aggression should have been shown.
Captain Rahul himself did not look comfortable and lost wickets playing on the front foot in both the innings. Now his place in the team does not seem to be confirmed in the first Test against Australia in February.
Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara got dodged while trying to play outside. The current generation of batsmen are not able to play spin well and their weakness has been exposed again.
Virat Kohli is a great batsman but he himself would like to forget the one run in 22 balls.
India also made the mistake of leaving out Man of the Match Kuldeep Yadav, who took eight wickets in the first Test. With a third spinner on a turning pitch, India could have won on the third day itself.
